CAVAN VOLUNTEER CENTRE MANAGER
Cavan Volunteer Centre is recruiting a full time Manager. The primary
objective of the role is to develop and manage Cavan Volunteer Centre
to support volunteers, and Volunteer Involving Organisations and to
promote and celebrate volunteering in County Cavan. The role involves
managing the delivery of the service, staff of the centre and future
development of Cavan Volunteer Centre with the support of the Board of
Directors.
Cavan Volunteer Centre was set up to promote the value of volunteering
and civic responsibility and to increase the range and quality of
volunteering: to increase access to volunteering by offering a Support
Service to the Public and Volunteer Involving Organisations (VIOs);
and to carry on these charitable purposes for the benefit of the
inhabitants of County Cavan and its environs.

progress against agreed targets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary objective of the role is to develop and manage Cavan
Volunteer Centre to support volunteers, and Volunteer Involving
Organisations and to promote and celebrate volunteering in County
Cavan.
The role involves developing and managing the delivery of the service,
managing the staff of the centre and managing the future development
of Cavan Volunteer Centre, working under the guidance of the Board,
based on an annual workplan.
KEY AREAS OF WORK
Service Delivery
* Manage and run the local branch of the national volunteering
database ? I-VOL, maintain data quality, generate reports, support
and train staff in its usage, and adhere to national guidelines.
* Participate in the national work of the Volunteer Centres network
by participating in working groups, attending national meetings, and
promoting national projects, as appropriate.
* Oversee the delivery of Volunteer Management Training to
not-for-profit groups and arrange for the delivery of additional
training topics to meet the needs of local organisations.
* Deliver the Garda Vetting service to affiliates, in line with
current national legislation.
Promotion of Volunteering and Cavan Volunteer Centre
* Identify local stakeholders
* Build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders.
* Work to increase volunteer activity and promote and develop best
practices in volunteering in Co Cavan.
* Work with local media to highlight volunteering and the Centre?s
activities.
* Utilise social media to highlight the work of the Centre and the
benefits of volunteering to potential volunteers.
* Represent the Centre at various fora, networks, meetings as agreed
with the Board of Directors
* Take part in national PR opportunities and campaigns as they
arise, e.g. National Volunteering Week.
Finance/Reporting
* Identify and access resources (financial, human, and material)
required to further the aims of Cavan Volunteer Centre.
* Develop income streams to the Centre from various sources,
including statutory, earned income (training courses, Garda vetting,
etc.) and sponsorship.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and report to
funders as required.
* Implement the Centre?s financial procedures and review them on a
regular basis.
* Prepare an Annual Report each year and regular progress reports as
required.
* Assist the Finance Sub Committee in Cavan Volunteer Centre to
maintain accurate records and report monthly to the Finance Sub
Committee.
Management of Cavan Volunteer Centre and of Staff
* Centre set up and development
* Report to the Cavan Volunteer Centre Board and its sub-committees
monthly.
* Deliver, monitor, and evaluate the progress of the Centre?s
annual work plans.
* Ensure that Cavan Volunteer Centre meets the required standards as
set out in the Quality Standards Framework for Volunteer Centres and
to develop and implement an annual Quality Improvement Plan.
* Ensure the Centre?s policy and procedure documents are adequate,
are being implemented, and are regularly reviewed in line with the
Centre?s Document Control matrix.
* Lead, motivate and support the staff and volunteer team.
* Conduct regular support and supervision meetings with individual
staff members
* Work with the HR Sub-committee to ensure that best practice is
carried out in the Centre in relation to staff management and
development.
Other
* Be responsible for running the Volunteer Centre offices
(maintaining stationery supplies, suitability of equipment, etc.).
* Provide reporting, administrative, and secretarial support to the
Board as required.
* Participate in the strategic development of the centre.
* Such other duties, which do not change the nature of the post, as
may be determined by the Board.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Essential Skills/experience
* A minimum of 3 years Management/Project Management experience in a
similar or related field, which includes paid staff management
experience.
* Experience in planning and managing budgets.
* Experience in developing and implementing strategic plans/work
plans.
* Ability to work with a wide range of individuals and
organisations, including the ability to assess their needs clearly and
work with them to achieve those goals.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Ability to inform, motivate and support individuals and
organisations.
* Good general administration skills and computer skills including

packages i.e. salesforce.
* A full clean driving licence and access to a car for work
purposes.
Desirable Skills/experience
* A relevant third level qualification.
* Knowledge of current best practices in volunteer management.
* Ability to work from home with good internet connection
* Awareness of Equal Opportunities.
* Experience/qualifications in delivering training, particularly on
Volunteer Management topics.
* Experience in volunteering
* Knowledge of the community and voluntary sector in County Cavan.
* Knowledge of the voluntary and statutory sectors.
* Event management experience.
